Sustainability in entrepreneurship
Is sustainability just a passing trend? Not for us at RISK. We don’t adopt sustainability practices for mere fashion; we understand its essential role in our mission. At RISK, we prioritise responsible management of finite resources. We’ve long been committed to sustainability initiatives, well before it became a popular concept. So, what exactly does RISK do to promote sustainability?
- Our two largest office locations use LED lighting, significantly reducing power consumption. Motion detection lighting is installed throughout the buildings to minimise unnecessary energy use.
- We prioritise digital communication, leading to a 96% reduction in paper consumption from 2019 to 2022. We operate without printers and copiers for office mail processing.
- Our premises are energy-efficient with an A-rated energy label. Climate control systems maintain optimal temperatures with minimal energy consumption.
- In 2021, we launched the RISK Forest initiative in the Netherlands.
- Customers can opt for a sustainable insurance component for just €0.25 per month, contributing to offsetting the CO2 impact of their policy, including from issuance to damage repair.
- We partner with Utrechts Landschap to support the upkeep of nature reserves in the Netherlands.
- Additionally, we’ve invested in 5000 Macadamia trees in Malawi to further reduce CO2 emissions and promote local community self-sufficiency.
- RISK makes a monthly donation for each customer to further offset carbon emissions.
A conscious place in society
We not only incorporate sustainability and corporate responsibility in our offices and logistics, but also in our HR policy. We take care of our staff and try to find a good balance between talents, (im)possibilities, ambitions and health. That is why we apply the following three HR pillars, among others:
- We pay attention to our employees’ potential regardless of their position in our organisation. Employees are encouraged and supported to further develop their skills through training and certifications, should they so wish.
- We work together with each employee to ensure that they experience their work as enjoyable and meaningful.
- We encourage a healthy lifestyle. Fresh fruit is provided daily for example.

At RISK, we always have the future in mind. That’s why we invest in innovation:
- We strive to stay dynamic by embracing new opportunities. Our focus is product development, but especially innovation in the fintech sector.
- We invest in social innovation. We work in multidisciplinary teams, which allows us to collaborate efficiently. We are also open to collaboration with external parties, which allows us to develop sustainable revenue streams and provides a wealth of learning opportunities.
Sustainability is central to our mission. For years, we have been implementing sustainable practices and remain open-minded to embrace the changes necessary to achieve our goals.

Achieving success is truly rewarding when shared with others. We prioritise contributing to institutions and organisations that have a significant social and cultural impact, particularly those aligned with Christian values. Any sponsorship requests must meet the following criteria:
